- Fidel giving a press conference to condemn the coup in Brazil that ousted President Jânio da Silva Quadros from power. During that conference, Fidel said: “I hope that the Brazilian people are able to stand their ground firmly before this treacherous blow of the imperialism and reactionary factions, and emerge victorious from this stiff test.”
